Question 85 MR2 Wont Start ({({(PLEASE HELP)})})

I Need Help.My 85 MR2 Wont start the engine cranks but will not turn over terminals clean, bran new battery cables, new ground.If you have any suggestions please tell me.Running out of ideas.A bad head gasket wouldn't be the reason would it?

Try pulling out a spark plug and check for a spark (hold near the block and crank it). Also if you can get an injector tester "noid light" check to see if the injectors fire properly (light will flash when cranking) or otherwise smell for gas in the cylinders after cranking a while. If you don't have spark or fuel the car won't start.
Also does the engine sound like "puff puff puff" while cranking or does the starter just turn fast with a constant whining noise? If it's not 'puffing' then check if the timing belt is broken... It's on the right side near the distributor, remove the top plastic cover and you should see the timing belt, if all you see is the timing sprocket then the belt is broken and that's your problem.
Hope that helps narrow it down...
