Question 91 Olds Front End Problems...

Hello all I have a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 2 door that I bought five months ago. Now when I bought this car there was nothing wrong with the front end untill I drove it in Hamitlon, Ontario one of the worst citys for nasty train tracks and pot holes. Anyways I had noticed an odd rattleing noise comming from the passenger side. I liftted the passenger side up and took off the wheel to see if maybe somthing had come lose or maybe even a bad ball joint or tie rod but everything still looks solid. So I took my car in to a local shop and the mechanic told me that there is a barring in the lower strut coil plate that needed to be replaced but I ended up finding out when I went shopping around for parts that apparently it is the upper strut coil plate barring that is needing to be replaced. Now what I am wondering is do I need to replace the whole plate or can I just replace the barring?? I had got my mother which lives in Hamilton to phone around for me to see if she could find me the part I need at a reasonable price. Well it turns out she apparently did and she got the part but told me that it is called a strut insulator. Does anyone know if this is the proper part I need to fix the upper strut plate?

Thanks in advance
