alarm bypass and still no start

'95 VW GTI VR6-followed the steps and still nothing...

my girl's car refuses to start and i absolutely need it running ASAP....

ok so i did my home work...checked out boschmann's plan of attack so it seems everyone else has...it solved my alarm problem...but the problem now is that when i turn the key the starter will not engage, i dont even here the fuel pump....is there something i am missing...

i am pretty sure i have faulty door locking mechanism...but would the fact that the door locks dont work cause the engine not to even attempt to start?...for now...thinkin it might be the starter and i am takin it up to autozone to have them test it for me just too make sure...

so what all could it be? ECU? door locks? immobilizer? and if it is the immobilizer where is this damn thing located how do i fix it? i see it being talked about but no one will say where it is located or how to fix/bypass it....

I think I had this same problem. i had to take the door panel apart then find the wires goign into the hand, theres 2 bright ones and a grey one. i cut the wo red or ornage ones and put them together and i bypassed my alarm and starts fine now.

alarm module is behind the light dimmer switch on the left of instrument cluster. Jump the 2 large wires i believe 12 &14 at the connector on the module and you should be able to start the car (that is if the module is bad this bypasses module)

i realize that i already did that but the car still will not start...the problem is i live about 3 hours from the car...so i cant go and work on it all the time...you know? but the thing is after i did the alarm by-pass...it still would not start...now is that a starter issue or do you think it may be the door locks...the air vacuum peice that the yellow vacuum hose plugs into...has been broken before and appears that whoever broke it tried putting JB Weld on it to fix it...and somehow it broke again...so would that keep the starter from engaging or is it the starter you think? and if it is the Immobilizer where is the damn thing located and how do i fix it?

Re: Re: alarm bypass and still no start

immobilizer is the alarm module you jumped. If the alarm does not go off than its not the alarm system causing the car not to start. Have you replaced the ignition switch at all? if not than i'd start with that. If you have already done that than turn the key to on and checkthe voltage at the 1 wire connector on the starter( should be battery voltage) if not than theres an open circuit between the starter and ign switch (most likely power supply relay). if you do have 12 volts and the starter does not crank than replace the starter. If you arent hearing the fuel pump than check the fuse and try jumping the relay (put wire in power and ground sockets when relay removed) I do remember there was a bulletin for older vr6 ecm going bad causing no start and i think it was 95-96 years. i would say check that last (most expensive part but you can find at a junk yard for problably 150-200)
