98 Cav vs Jetta

I kno I kno...slow cars...but hey...all is fun in street racing

I had purchased a new car a while back (a 98 Cav Coupe 2200 5spd) and was driving home from work tonight at around 12:30. I am cruisin and pass by a VW Jetta (probably a 1.8t, I don't know for sure [I raced one before from behind and was catchin up to him so I switched lanes and had to stop because of traffic]). I get over into the right lane (the lane he was in) and see him move to the left one. I have a cheap $20 muffler [cherry bomb turbo II shh lol] and a lil tip, so he heard this as I was inching up for the light to turn green.

The light turns green, and I take off normally, and see him starting to get on it a little, so I run first all the way out and hold him at my door. I spin a little into second and pull on him a little more to put him at about my quarter panel and hold him there through most of second to where he probably let off so I shifted and slowed down a little, but he stayed behind me lol.

I've had a few other races with this car (have won basically all of them) but I don't think you guys want to be bored with those stories

hey man, at least your not a dick head posting BS stories about how he messed up someones ride or put a stupid ricer in his place just cause he drives a faster, nicer car.

Big thumbs up to you for participating and contributing worth while stories to our forum.

As far as the Jetta, yeah they arent all that fast. the 1.8T's are very tunable but the 2.0's with 115 hp are pure cows.
and congrats on your kill.

Re: 98 Cav vs Jetta

Nice kill. Although the '98 Vee-Dub Jetta couldn't be a 1.8t because the 1.8T Jetta's were released in 2000. They share the same engine as their GTI bretheren and the GTI runs low 15's and they are only 20lbs difference in weight.
Could have been a GLS although im pretty sure even they run .5 second faster than the cavvy. Probably a shitty driver.
