Bought an srt4 have problems

Okay so i just bought an srt4 and was really excited but not anymore. First of all when I test drove the car it was awesome, it pulled like crazy and had no problems whatsoever. But after the purchase was made and they took the car to the back of the shop to be "cleaned" the car runs like shit.

It hesitates at idle and at speed and when you step on it more the more it hesitates like crazy and runs rough but if your easy on the pedal it seems better. Also when you drive around for quite a bit the car seems to be running much better like normal. Also i have a check engine light on consistently and when its flashing its worse and when its on all the time the car runs better.

i needed this car badly for a car that has run even worse (that I traded) so im very stresed and sad right now, and if its not fixed fast enough im afraid i have to get a car somewhere else. Its a 2004 and i like it a lot. Thanks for your help.

Well texsrt4 I have recieved a car to drive and in the meantime it's getting diagnosed at the dealer because I got a warranty and thats their problem. Before I gave it to them it was sitting in my garage overnight and I did some troubleshooting and found out its misfiring on cylinder #3. I managed only to check the wires and inspect the coil and it seemed fine. Anyways like I said its their problem and they better get it fixed or they lost a customer.

Re: Bought an srt4 have problems

there can be tons of problems like that. how many miles on the car? was it new when you got it? if not, what was done to it? what have you done to it? any other problems?

cyl 3 is not a common one to have problems. number 1 has a head issue, due to an oiling problem (nothing serious, but makes an annoying ticking noise). how much boost were you running before you had the problem? i smell a boost controller, be honest! they will figure it out, or you get a new one. thats teh beauty of a new car!

No, no tex you gotta understand I just bought the car when the problem started to happen. Now you might be right about a boost controller or aftermarket thing but the car looked stock when i bought it and the previous owner was a old person who traded it because the exhaust was too loud ( Well thats what they said ). I didn't even get a chance to even drive it more than an hour when this crap started to happen. Can this be cause by washing the engine because it was fine before they took it to be washed, after that the car ran like crap. And the car has around 32000 miles.

Well I got my car back and it seemed to be a simple problem. The problem was that water got into where the spark plug was and the number 3 spark plug was shot. So they replaced all the spark plugs and its good as new. The car runs great and I think its the best bang for your buck you can get its awesome.

well i got another problem my engine light is back on and now its giving me a code of p0440. This code means gereral evap system failure. Now If im correct 99% of the time its the fuel cap that is causing the problem. But I checked the fuel cap and i think it is fine. What else can I check and does it seem to be a major problem.

This is actually surprising in one week I get two codes and the reason I bought this car is so it would be trouble free. Go figure.

ps. I know this car will drink alot of gas because its turbocharged but it seems to be drinking gas like crazy and im not even using the turbo half the time.

hey is their anything else that you learned about your car and how long did you have it. Is it stock and what problems if any did you have. I plan to keep this awhile and was wondering if I put mopar parts on this car if it would void my warranty.

Re: Bought an srt4 have problems

i have done a lot to my car. it looks nearly bone stock, but probably have 10g in it on top of the price of the car. all of the problems i have had with it are typical of hte srt. TPS sensor problems, Ticking in teh head (for the 03's, too small of an oil passage, blew my tranny, etc. all was covered by warranty, even with all of my mods)

i really enjoy the car, and its a blast to drive everyday!

my mod list:
AEM intake, custom 3" turbo-back exhuast, Crane 193-0012 camshafts with fidanza cam gears (soon to be Crower cams), mopar stage 1 (stage 2 is in my World Touring Car that i work with), stage 2 wastegate running 18psi, mopar stage 3 coilovers, hotchkis swaybars, dcsport strut bars, prothane bushings all around, wilwood big brake kit in front and powerslot/hawk combo in rear, 18 bronze icw wheels with 235/40/18 sumitomo tires (soon to be 245/35/18s). mopar short throw shiter, greddy turbotimer, and i know im forgetting suff!

as soon as AEM gets off their butt, i am first on the list for their plug-n-play standalone computer, and that is going to be matched up with a mopar stage3 turbo assembly. this way the car looks stock, but should be pushing 400hp on pump gas

hey what options came with the 03 04 05's. I'm a bit confused because my vin says my car is a 2004 but when I looked at the door it say it was built in 09/03. So does my car come with a limited slip? and do you have a sunroof or do the 04, and 05's have them.
