Starter Replacement?
Anybody ever replace their starter, we have a 1999 friebird. Any info would be much appreciated! Thanks

Depoending on which engine the car has, it shouldn't be TOO bad a job. I would get a service manual and follow the instructions there. Pontiac would be best, but Chilton's or Hayne's should have accurate info for that operation.

Starter Replacement
Haynes manual is a good place to start. You can find one at your local AutoZone for about $15. But the basic strategy in dealing with this kind of thing is to first disconnect the negative battery. If yours is a V-8 LS-1 motor 350, then the starter should be easy to find on the passenger side of the car (opposite side of the oil filter). You may have to take part of the exaust off to take the starter down from the block. Label your wires going to the solenoid on the starter, and take the 2 bolts loose that mount the starter. many times the reason a car won't start is because you have corroded terminals at the battery or you have a stuck solenoid. try cleaning the cables and terminals with corrosive cleaner and a brush and try rapping on the solenoid with a large wrench. GM has a thing about starters and stuck solenoids. try those 2 things first. Hope that helps you. Good luck and let me know how this turns out.
