Shifter I.d.

NEW TO ME,90' LIMITED,WITH NO OWNERS MAN'L. THE SHIFTER SAYS,1st & 2nd IN THE LOW RANGE SLOT, JUST WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

1st means when you put it in 1st gear, the transmission will not shift to any other gear.
And the 2nd meaning the same but transmission will start in first then shift into 2nd but will not go past 2nd gear.
These are usually used for pulling heavy loads or when you are offroading...

Thanks for the reply,but still confused! when I shift to the 1st-2nd slot,it stays in 1st untill I shift it to what says 3rd on the selector and then to "d"for drive?

It means what it says. 1-2- it will go into both gears and 3rd it will go into there and D means it will go in all.
