Question Engine Mangement Tuning ?s

I will eventually be mildly building my B16 for NA using CTR (or ITR) cams and pistons and of course a valvetrain upgrade(maybe just to CTR/ITR stuff or an aftermarket company) as well as a mild P&P and possibly decking & balancing the block (since the block needs to be taken apart anyways, I figure might as well do it). I want to get the most out of these mods and still pass smog if possible. I've heard that engine management systems can be tuned to lower emissions. So I was thinking of having one setting to pass smog and another for the street/strip. I was just wondering if this is true and what system preferably piggyback (hondata, uberdata, greddy emanage, etc.) would you guys reccomend. Also any reccomendations on companies to go to or avoid for some of this as I've only found a few(needs to be on the west coast and preferably in CA). Anything else you guys would reccomend?

Here's what's already done to the motor:
Exedy light weight flywheel
Injen intake
Sun auto hyper voltage & grounding kit
DC 4-2-1 Header
AEBS intake manifold

Re: Engine Mangement Tuning ?s

hondata, etc are not piggy backs.

I am running crome with a p28 on my h22. Your going to need to be OBDI to run any program like crome or hondata.

so yeah, what year is the car and where are you located? You need to find out what program your tuner knows best.

Oh sory, ECU is out of a del Sol Vtec from 95 (p30 OBD I) and the motor year is 95 also(JDM). I thought hondata was a piggy back because, don't you still need the original ECU? Maybe I'm just mis-using the term. And I'm in Simi Valley, CA I haven't been able to find anyone willing to actually install the systems but they are willing/certified to tune them.

Re: Engine Mangement Tuning ?s

if you want to pass smog, just keep your stock ecu and injectors on the side.
