hey Arlington,
welcome to AF.
throttle body units are mechanical.
return spring butterfly(throttle plate) and this is basicaly it.
the TPS bolted to one side is a sensor that may need swapped out.
you can buy intake air cleaner for $2 per can and spray this down the TBIs "throat" to clean it out.
if you want a new one, the Tomco# 8-103 can be ordered from O'Reilly Auto Parts (Hi-Lo) for $300.
the air cleaner temp sensor is only $15. through Borg Warner, and can also be changed, but if the TBI is still working, no need to swap out.
injectors usually start going bad first.
you could find a rebuiler or shop that modifies or services TBs or carbs.
they can usually tear down and rebuild for $100 or so (parts and labor), and use a kit to service any moving parts and/or gaskets.
if you are still looking to find a spare TBI from a salvage yard, most mid- 90s GMs with 3.1 or 3.4L might be interchangeable, just check mounting and electrical sensor hook-ups.

hope this helps,
chris
