Oil Pressure Gauge

I don't know if you guys remember or not but for the longest time I couldn't get my oil pressure gauge to work. Over the summer I found two lines dangling next to the oil pressure gauge unit and the oil sensor "thing" but both lines were too short to reach all the way down. Well, tonight while I was changing my oil, I decided to fumble around with it and see if I could trace where the lines were coming from since I was at a "better" angle--and I did!!! I extended the lines because they were kind of stuck at this one point and connected both lines and my oil pressure gauge inside my car works now!!! Finally huh Musashi. LOL I am STOKED!

I do have one question though....for sure the oil pressure gauge is connected properly but I'm not fully sure about the oil sensor. I just stuck it in this one way and since I couldn't pull it back out, I just left it as is. One thing that I don't remember seeing the oil icon when I start up my car in the past but I don't know if that's because I wasn't paying attention or if it was because the sensor wasn't connected. But now I see it whenever I start my car. My question then is that if the sensor was not connected, would icon still come on? If not then I connected it properly. I guess I could just disconnect it again but I was having a hard time pulling it off and it was getting dark so I just left it the way it was. If no one knows then I'll just go back down there when I have time.

On a sucky note, I think my driver's-side driveshaft might be leaking.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge

I do think the warning light is supposed to come on when you start hte car. I'd only be worried if it stayed on. Havn't driven mine in awhile, but as far as I remember it and a few other lights do come on at startup.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge

Hey good job! idk about the oil light in the dash, my warning sensor wire broke off the connector thing, haven't bothered to do anything about it yet cuz the gauge still works fine.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge

Twizted_3KGT, does your oil light come on when you turn on the car since your sensor wire broke off?

It dosent matter if the light comes on or not, its if it stays on then you should worry!
oh and yes the light will come on when you start the car regardless of the oil preassure guage being connected or not. the sensor you connected was for the preasure. the warning light is triggered if the oil level drops bellow a certain level. the sensor is internal and it is electrical, its one of the wires that comes out of the main engine harness just bellow the left side of the front valve cover.

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge

LOL Actually, yes, my dust shields and strut mounts came in today and I'm all set! I was just thinking that I was gonna PM you about it but since you asked, then yeah. I know you're gonna be busy with everything because of storm that came through but I'm ready whenever you are. No rush though chief. This by far will be my biggest/most complicated project that I've actually done so hopefully I don't wuss out and take it into a shop.
