I have a big 16g turbo on my 98 gst and when I hit anywhere close to 15 pounds of boost it starts jumping on me like a misfire. Could this be the plugs or maybe the fuel pump? The plugs are gapped at .30

Re: turbo detonating
What plugs do you have in it?
I would HIGHLY recommend getting a set of NGK BPR7ES's....those are a cooler running plug and great for higher boosting... gap them at about .030 or so...I ended up having my final gap at .027 to get rid of that "bucking/jumping" feeling when getting over about 5psi of boost. I had to pull my plugs about 4 times to get the gap right but when it was set my car pulled hard for what a T-25 will allow ![]() If I remember correctly, if you hit fuel cut you will definately know you did!!! It is more than just a jumping feeling. I would have to say it is your plugs. This is off-topic but here is a great website that you can learn alot from... www.vfaq.com check it out sometime in case you haven't already... Good luck and I hope this helps. Welcome to AF.com bro!!
