I have a 2000 3.0 sohv tarus that came up with check engine light. It had the code for cam sensor malfunction. I replaced the cam sensor with no difficulty. The light went out. A day later I am having a problem to where when the vehicle has been driven for a lenghty period of time(at leat 30 minutes) it will stall when coming to a stop. I does not always happen. I also notice that there is a miss/shudder/powerloss at high rpms; accelerating with the throttle about 3/4 of the way open, right before a shift. I think this is unrelated to the cam sensor replacement but would like to get it resolved.
Any Ideas? RJ |

Re: 2000 tarus intermitent stalling
When you say power loss.. If you hear your engine stall I would ask when was your last tune up? Might be plugs and wires...If you hear your engine reving high but you just dont feel like your going anywhere I would change tranny fluid and filter.

I had a simular problem with my 2000 ses.It would shudder at stops and also while driving .....Decided to try the simple things first.....Ran a can of fuel enjector cleaner through the gas tank (used "outlow" brand).......Runs like a sewing machine now.
