Alternator pulley causes hose woes
Argggg.....I spent all last week and all this week with my car torn apart. I got it all back together ysterday and started filling up the sysem and charging the battery. While I was filling the cooling system I squeezed some of the hoses to bleed the air out. My outlet hose has been sliced into by the alternator pully. God, I had to special order these hoses and it took like three weeks to get them in the first place! Now I got to order them again. Does anyone have an ideas for temperary fixes? Or, can you use something like expoxy to permanently seal the hose?

Re: Alternator pulley causes hose woes
Find a length of pipe either stainless or galvanized of the proper diameter. Plastic will also work as long as it is designed for hot water. Cut the hose and insert the pipe, use clamps to clamp the hose to the pipe and you should be good to go until you get the proper hoses.

Re: Alternator pulley causes hose woes
i wouldnt advise corrugated hose...metal to metal on the cooling system is not good unless its welded...corrugated hose has a less density metal than the inlet and outlet of the radiator and engine block. As the coolant heats up the hose will expand quicker and maY ALLOW LEAKS TO OCCUR FASTER....Like GTPDAD said find a temporary fix like stainless or galvanized until the new part arrives...i used to manufacture stainless steel braided hose and some of the guys at the shop used to put it in their cars...it has to be welded....if done right it will last forever
