Airbag Warning Light?

The airbag warning light on my 1995 1.6 Escort Mexico flashes intermittantly. This has only happened once before, but then stopped the next morning. It started again last night. There are four flashes then a pause in a continues loop. All the information i can gather is that here are different Airbag warnings. The book reccommends going straight to a dealer, but i would like to know what the problem is first. Can anyone help.

Re: Airbag Warning Light?

The light indicates that there is a problem in the air bag system. You will need to go to the dealer or a mechanic to see where the problem is in the system. While the light is on the air bag may or may not work.

If the light is flashing then it does not work. the flashing is a code. Then you have to follow a pinpoint test to see what the fault is. Take it to the dealer.
