Arrow Code P0551, anyone else get this?

Got a 2000 Durango 4x4 w/4.7L. Few days ago check engine light came on, and using the key trick I got the code p0551. A service manual for the Durango said that the code is related to the power steering switch. Looking more at the manual, the power steering pressure switch controls engine idle when in parking lots or at stop lights, and it is only on the 4.7L Durango models. According to the manual, some of signs to look for a bad switch are things such as either low idle, high idle, or even stalling. I just wanted to know if anyone had a similar problem and if it was fixed or not because I am about to buy this part and replace it, but wanted to see if anyone else experienced it.

I wouldn't do anything about it until it began to affect the truck. If it's not idling wierd, or stalling, then don't worry about it.

You ever play MKII? Kintaro kicks ass.

I have an '04 5.7 durango with the same code problem. WHen I opened the power steering cap on the resiovoir, there was a huge burst of air. I had to do this twice to clear the code. Hasn;t happened since. I would assume that there was some air trapped in the power steering system that was compressed and built up. I had no problems with engine stalls or idle problems.

I had it before. Replaced the sensor. Its about a 25 dollar part. Very easy to change out. Read somewhere that a guy had the same code, fluid started to leak out through the sensor and started through the wiring harness costing him $$$$$$ a few pennies. For 25 bucks, its worth it to me to change it out and not worry about it.
