Angry 1999 Ignition Switch broke in theft attempt

Hi All,

Well some thiefs broke into my son's car and stole the disc player but the really ad thing is that they tryed to hot wire it.

They broke the lock cylindar out tof the column and broke the ignition switch of the steering ccolumn shaft.

I think it is a good thing that the ignition switch didn't break off cleanly or they probably woud have suceeded in stealling the car. The ignition switch is dinged up just enough that it would settle in the right places like start then spring back to run.

So..... to make a long story shorter I boought a new ignition switch and I think that if I plug the two connetors into it I should at least be able to turn the switch to start and it will spring back to run so I can get it to my home to save $200 towing bill.

I did read somethnig about leaving it in the run positiion for 10 minutes to reset the computer or something but I have another quester the key lock cylindar had three wires to it and the connector is unhooked. Do I need to do anything with these three wires that go t the key cylindar just to get it to my house? I am hoping I can just plug in the new ignition switch nd that will work well enough.

Thanks for any help.

Carl
