OK basic stupid questions

hey everyone, I am not a mitsu guy and I don't have the eclispe

my buddy does is turbo'ing it, 16g

he has a 03 gs, wondering where to get oil lines and what is the boost it can handle in its stock form [motor]

also would you guys say that he needs fuel upgrades right now

he gots throttle body [larger unsure size], IC, 16g [internally wastegated for 8psi], Greddy BOV, 2.5" exhuast

is this suffient or not?

Re: OK basic stupid questions

the stock block can hold up to about 19psi. you will stop seeing significant HP gains after about 14psi.

internal wastegate sucks. get him to convert to an external wastegate.

make sure that the BOV is a recirculating BOV if he is placing the MAS between the filter and the turbo.

yes, he needs fuel upgrades. a 255lph Walboro fuel pump(its made for the 2G eclipse, but it will fit the 3G). he will also need bigger injectors. getting a 1:1 rising rate fuel pressure regulator(boost referenced) will help out with the tuning. you can get instructions on installing the fuel pump(trust me, you will need them) from here http://www.tearstone.com/shop/index....&id=2&Itemid=6

what is he using to tune it?

is he using a 2G turbo manifold? make sure he knows that he needs an adapter plate to make the 16g work with the 2G manifold(if thats what he has). he can get it from RRE.

i have no idea about the oil lines.

i think he said something about having a evo mani

he is using a SAFC2 to tune, and it appears now thaa he's getting the walbro 255 and some 440 injectors i can't recalled exact right now

ya i told him about recirculating, as i've experienced the problems before on my cars, the pump install shouldn't be to bad I've done a few already

i'll talk to him about the wastegate thing

i just worry about my friends sometimes, they don't always know what they are getting into with their projects

sounds like hes done some research. the reason i talk about the fuel pump install is that it is very easy to tear the grommet which will cause you to lose fuel pressure. even some of the best installers have messed this up. hell, RIPP messes it up sometimes.

i'm sure he can't use a SAFC2 to reliably tune it, don't quote me on it, but the computer is said to set itself around the SAFC's parameters and counter them to equal a more stock a/f ratio, i'd use an e-manage or standalone, but if the FPR and SAFC2 do it, taht'd be awesome

the 4cyl can run fairly well off the SAFC. of course, its not a good as the emanage, but it will still work up to a certain psi.

kool thanks for the input guys, ya I'm pretty sure that the SAFC will be suffiecent for the goals he's looking at

soo it seems he should be ok with what he has right now and, what he's going to get fairly soon

i got a fitment question that he's not even all to sure about, is the manifold going to put the turbo int he way of the a/c?? i believe he's trying to use a evo mani or something

its usually not the actual turbo that gets in the way of the a/c. its the downpipe. most people that use the 1G/2G manifold have to get a new downpipe custom made so that they can keep the a/c. i think the evo manifold is the same way. i could be wrong though.
