Cold Air Intake Question

I found a cold air intake online... You have to cut a hole into your wheel well to use the intake... I assumed that the filter would get soaking wet when ever it rained. I was woundering if anyone has seen this style intake before and what would happen if it got wet... Someone told me if rain got in it it would seize my engine... This is the intake

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

Yea.... I think alot of the CAIs require cutting a whole in the wheel well... I don't think it'll get soaking wet unless you're constantly driving through big ass puddles, but don't take my word for it.

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

I agree with Musashi... given that if you are already using a open element air filter, the filter is already off to the size away from most of the heat, you are getting air that is only a couple degrees cooler...

The problem is that the increase tubing length with the bend has increased the total air resistance in the intake which will inhibit the air flow more then you would gain buy using slightly denser air (one of the car magazines proved it on an integra with a K&N filter right above the exhaust manifold and one with all the cold air intake piping and they got more horsepower out of the K&N right above the exhaust manifold).

Re: Cold Air Intake Question

true... I have a full-cold air intake... but am running it as a short-ram... b/c cutting the fenderwell was a lot of work... tore things up... and the fitment wasn't exact... maybe it was b/c the CAI's were made for the DOHC (plenums sit different), and I have the SOHC
