Re: Not very quick??
It should spank the golf. Especially off the line. I think it should have about 250 or 280 hp. the only drawback it has would be that it's an auto.

3500lb car+2.0l turbo + autotranny=slow off the line
maybe try power braking ![]() Unfortunately turbo cars usually don't work too well with an auto tranny. Even my wife's new 2.5GT has a bit of lag with the automatic. |

Re: Re: Not very quick??
[quote=carbuzzard]You wanna explain that engine? Twin turbo? Nothing from the factory like that. Try a 2.5-liter 165 hp naturally aspirated four. And so far as I know, Subaru has never put two turbos on any production model...or probably any racer, either.
There are other countries besides the U.S. that have been getting turboes for years. Look at his profile. |

Re: Not very quick??
The GT Legacy has had Twin Turbos since the early 90s, its nothing new in that regard.
They started with about 240hp and have got closed to 300 with each generation. A 97 should have around 270-280hp I think. However, big heavy car with power sucking AWD and an Automatic gearbox = poor performance no matter how much hp you have. That said it should still run rings around a Golf, unless its the brand new one. There a lots of GT legacys here, all ex-Japan, and they have developed a reputation for blowing or doing damage to the smaller secondary turbo that provides boost at low engine speeds. Its a problem that was supposed to be fixed in later generations, but its something you might want to get checked. And of course if the car is a used import then make sure you give it a full and complete tune up. Replace all the filters, fluids, and ignition parts and you might find it performs much better.

![]() On another note, I wouldn't refer to your website as a resource, it's got misleading info and your model years on some vehicles are incorrect.

GT - slow?
Ive driven a few Gt's while i was looking for one of my own. The autos are nowhere near as good performance wise as the manuals...like the others have said: heavy car plus AT = no go...if you were serious about speed you would have waited for a manual.
Good luck for next time!
