Question 2000 Lesabre battery location

I can't find the battery on my 2000 lesabre custom.

If you check it be sure the vent tubes are over the vent holes on the ends of the battery to take the fumes out under the car...

Question

Why on a LeSabre with all it's engine compartment room, would GM put the battery under the seat?
