car died going down highway
Last night I was on my way to see my husband, I was driving down the highway and all the sudden the oil light came on, the temp shot all the way up and the check engine light came on at the same time and the car stalled.. We have checked the oil and the water both are full. The water has a brown muddy look to it. The car will turn over but it wont start. Anyone know what might be going on with it. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: car died going down highway
Ouch. The muddy look in the water is oil and this is not good news. Sounds to me like the car over heated and popped a head gasket. You could also have a cracked head or block, you wont know until the motor is taken apart.

Hoping you dont have a cracked head, etc.. That happened to me, and mines turned out to be cracked block, had to buy a new engine for it.
Rebuilts are cheap, but not sure if its worth it, for me it was only mode of transportation, the rebuilt block for me costed round $2200.00 with labor. My car died at a young age of 49,000 miles. 97 Sable Wagon GS. (1st owner) |
