Unhappy power steering camry

I gotta 91 camry 2 point zero with 165 k miles on the clock--- now the power steering has just failed, I checked all the right belts and hoses they all look tight and dry, the rack looks good, even reservoir is full. Its steering like an old 1950's truck-- manually!.....i've read all the camry threads and gotten alot from themb but I'm still got my thumb up my ass with this damn power steering failure- any clever ideas/???? thanks

Re: power steering camry

Try giving the pump a couple of whacks with a 2x4 (or plastic hammer or something). Might be your pressure release check valve has stuck open and you are not getting pressure to the system. If it's stuck, might be your fluid needs to be replaced.
