can anyone tell me how to pull this dash off so i can get to the heater core

Pull up the vent on top, remove screws, crawl underneath and remove every screw you can find around the edges underneath...You will have around 30 screws/nuts to pull off.

do ya have to drop the steering column too?

yep...2 15mm nuts on either side of the column... Just let it rest on the seat... You only have to swing the dash out on the passenger side enough to get access to the rest of the screws for the heatercore housing.
