03 Cavalier Ls Air Control problem

When my heater or AC is on it will only blow out through the front vents. Even when I turn the selector to blow on the windshield or the floor, it still blows out through the front vents. The selector feels like its broken because when i turn it to either end it seems to sling back towards the middle, but i am not sure if that is the problem. I took it to the dealership and they said it was the vacuum hose and others say it could be the actuator. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I know some cars have a cable to switch to diffrent things so look under you dash and look for any broken cables.

Thats what I think it is. I looked behind that area, near the floor board, and when I turn the knob, it looks like cable seems to be loose. I'm not too familiar with these things. Do you know where the other end of the cable is?

One end is attached to the end of that nobe and the other is attached by the fire wall i think, to the lever that switches the vents and ect.

um it is thw wall, if you open your hood, it is the wall that seperates you motor from your inside of you car. If you look under your das it is the wall that is there.

well if the actuator is the motor that means is either runs on electric or vaccum. So it could be both. I would just do it step by step, frist move the nob and see if you see the cable moving, and if it is loose.

ok, there sould be a clamp some where on the fire wall when the cable attatches with the cable. that might be lose and the hole cable is sliding. try to find that and tighten it up.

Do you know how to take the panel off to get begind there? Does it just pop off? It seems like it does, but I don't want to break it.
