Here's a stumper

Well, the transmission gave out in my Oldsmobile, so now I find myself with a $200 orange 1993 Geo Metro.
It has the 3 cylindre, 1 litre engine.
The number 2 cylindre, has never fired since I've had it. It has a spark, and plenty of compression, but it doesn't seem to be getting any gas. I've checked the timing belt (new, correctly installed), the PCV valve (bad, but blocked), and the cam-shaft lobes (fine). What else is there? I don't see why cylindres 1 and 3 should get gas, but not cylindre 2.

what is the compression on #2 and did you check spark at plug or wire. could also be a vacuum leak

Have you checked the plugs? I had a brand new NGK bad right out of the box. Just something to check.

I found out what was wrong with it. It had a dirt dauber nest in that arm of the intake. I knew dirt dauber nests were fairly tough, but I'm still amazed that it stood up to the vacuum from the engine. Anyway, once I got it cleaned out and running right, I noticed that there was water in the exhaust,so I pulled the head, and found that the gasket was bad. I replaced the gasket ($50!!) and then it started ticking, so I pulled the head back off, and took it for a valve job. The ticking went away, but then it started to get really bad. Whenever I would get going town the road, as soon as it started to warm up, every light (dash lights, floor lights, head lights) in the car would come on, and the car would stall, and refuse to start until it had cooled down to zero.I had a mechanic school teacher that I know have a look at it, and he said that the whole car would need every piece of wire replaced (I guess I'm lucky it didn't catch fire). As my old dad used to say, "F*** that sh**!" I ended up selling the damn thing to a die hard Geo Metro man who wanted it for parts, for $400. I've decided, that I'm going to just fix my Oldsmobile. I know it well, like it, and I'll never drag in another box of parts like that accursed Metro.
