Question strange clicking noise

It was when i started my 02 - now it does it randomly. A click, click, click - use to be 3x now as many as 5 in rapid succession coming from the steering column area. (My wife thought my pet monkey was in there trying to alert us...)

Anybody had this - is it something to be concerned about?

Question Re: strange clicking noise

Does this noise coincide with the tach movement as you raise the idle to 2500, then back?

not that I know of, although I haven't checked that and I will. As I mentioned, it initially happened immediately when I started it - now it doesn't do it then, but does as I'm driving...

If you can hear a click at 2 per second, regardless of engine speed, and it only happens once in a while, is not anything to be concerned with. It is your EV fan clutch activating. It pulses at 2Hz as the pcm asks for more engine fan engagement. When its asking for more fan, you will really hear it clearly from in front of the grille.

You can ask your dealer to reflash the pcm if you'd like, but its a non issue either way.
