2.4 Timing chain covers / headgasket
Good day all,
I have a quandary, duh. Removed the top timing chain cover but in doing so destroyed the portion of the head gasket that extends out and provides the seal between the bottom and top timing chain covers. (gasket separated from metal core) I DO NOT want to replace the head gasket just to renew the seal between the timing chain covers. ![]() Has anyone heard or successfully installed a "partial" gasket by cutting the part of the head gasket off that extends into the timing chain covers? Is there a gasket made just for this? Another question, does anyone have the timing chain alignment procedure or diagram showing the properly aligned relationships between all four sprockets? Thanks so much.
