IS this weird?

About a month a my car wouldn't start and when I took it to the mechanic he said that it was the power transistor. But then we could find no power transistor, we looked on the intake manifold and everywhere else and there is none. SO he said that it could be that it's in the computer itself. Is this weird at all? I got another computer, but if it's form an eclipse that has a power transistor on the intake manifold will it still work?

Re: IS this weird?

What car do you have right now? What year? If we don't know these answers then we can't help you.

If you have a first gen then the power transistor is right by the coil pack. There plugs are right next to each other if you have ever changed a coil pack then you may have even unplugged the power transistor at one time.

Re: IS this weird?

Oh I'm sorry I have a '95 eclipse rs non turbo of course. the straced the wires from the ECM on my car and they didn't lead to any transistor. It goes str8 from the ECM to the coil pack. He had the wiring diagramn and it showed that from the ECm it should go to the transistor and then to the coil pack, but such is not the case with mine.
