a140L will not upshift

added qt of lucas trans treatment and a week later it will not upshift out of first gear, any thoughts have not had any problems till then.

ouch. Try getting a flush. I am not sure if it will help anymore but its worth that try.

Sounds like you overfilled your tranny. Yep ouch..bye bye to your tranny...Overfillling above the full line causes excessive pressure buildup and of course damage the transmission.

Try this, get a thin hose and the gun from a squirt bottle. Insert it in and siphon excess fluid out.

Why did you add a qt of lucas trans treatment? What was your trans doing? Any error codes?
