Question Tesion Pulley

I posted this thread, but perhaps in a different forum. I am new to this particular site, but I have used forums for the last car I owned.
Here is my issue:
I have a 2000 Grand Am GT (3.4L) and the center bolt that holds the tension pulley seized, causing the pulley to melt into a pile of plastic. Now I've purchased a new pulley, but after trying to tighten the belt, the edge of the plastic cracked! Does anyone make a metal pulley for this car, or am I the only one who thinks using a plastic pulley if crazy?I'm going back for a new pulley, hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for me

Thanks for all your help!

Re: Tesion Pulley

That is strange, a plastic idler pully. All that I hav seen were metal, except for the 4cyl's they are sometimes plastic. I hav a 99 and had an 01 GA, both were steal.
