SilEighty Conversion

Could someone please tell me what is needed to convert a 240sx Hatch into a SilEighty? Is it just the fenders, hood, headlights, and front bumper that is needed or am I forgetting anything?

Any informaton at all would be greatly appreciated.

That's a mistake that a lot of people make. When you say SilEighty most people will automatically think of the S15 front end conversion. A SilEighty is a 180SX that uses Silvia parts, not necessarily just the S15 front end. Say that you swap an SR20DET from the silvia into a 180SX (240SX hatchback in the states) then you could say that you have a sileighty because you are mixing the 2 cars together, thus creating the name "Sil Eighty"
But for the S15 front end conversion like your talking about, you will need the fenders (an aftermarket company such as strawberry face makes the ones that you will need, the OEM S15 metal fenders will not fit the 240 chassis), headlights, hood, front bumper, bumper support and radiator support since the radiator will now hook on in a different place.

...
But for the S15 front end conversion like your talking about...
Where did he mention the S15? With a username like "Onevia," I'd assume he knows what the SilEighty is...

Ok you caught me :finger: I just re read it and see that he wasn't necessarily talking about the S15 front end.
I'm just used to the kids that I hang out with at school because all I ever hear about is how the S15 front end is this and how the S15 front end is that. So I just assumed that's what he was talking about

Sorry I should of been more specific. I meant the s13 conversion, I am planing on buying a 240sx hatch with front end damage and a blown, or no engine at all, then importing a sr20det. I am also going to purcase a Bomex body Kit (Front(Silvia), Side Skirts(240sx), and Rear Valance(240sx)). So Would it be better/cheaper to just source the silvia(s13) fenders, hood, Headlights, bumper support, and rad support? Or Would a kit with the front bumper as well be the way to go.?

Sileighty

Hey, ive never done a conver. before, but i plan to and have researched it A LOT...like for months

Anyway, ive heard that the best thing to do is get the entire front clip of a silvia SR from japan...that way the harness will be good, and you'll have a bunch of parts there so you dont have to order if youre stuck.

Also, NO, sileighty doesnt mean just a part from a silvia on a 180sx. It means the whole front end conversion. Thats how it got its name. You know, the sileighty used to be a production car because so many people fixed their bashed up 180sxes with cheaper silvia fronts.
The sileighty signature is the front fenders with the hatch. The headlights could be changed to the three-each projection beams on the jdm silvia also.

Sileighty doesn't really mean anything..... it's just a new name that you can call your car such as at the NOPI show last year in atlanta there was a Honda CRX with an NSX engine swapped into the trunk of the CRX and they called it the CRNSX. So it's just a name. So therefore the word sileighty doesn't mean a front end conversion of a silvia onto the 180sx. yes your right about it being a production (well you can call it production if you want but there were only 400 made) car but they didn't just put the silvia front end on the 180 when they made this car. things like the suspension were used off of the silvia on the 180 when they made the sileighty. so it's not just the front end. so if you swap in an SR from a silvia into your 180/240 hatch then you've got a "sileighty"
Once again, it's just a name so you can call your car a "sileighty" if you use the damn speaker panel from a silvia on your 180.

Yes, the S15 front end on an S13 or S14 can be referred to as strawberry face because the japanese translation for the numbers 1 and 5 is ichi-go, and the word ichi-go also means strawberry in japanese. So hence the name strawberry (15) face.

I read that in some magazine, but I can't remember where.

No, he's right. The SilEighty was a very-limiten production car in Japan. Off the top of my head, I don't remember if it was Nissan or Nismo that put them together. In any case, there are "real" SilEightys (few and far between) and there are Silvias/180SXs converted into SilEighty replicas.

The name "SilEighty" was made the same way the cars were:
The front of a Silvia, the rear of a one-eighty.

Conversely, a "OneVia" is a 180SX front end with a Silvia rear. Sound familiar? It should... it's the same as the U.S. 240SX.

Yes I know he was right, and I acknowledged that in my post.

Yes you can always convert to a sileighty, but real sileighty's are very rare and almost impossible to come by these days. I read on some japanese site that at an auction a real one was recently sold for about 3.4 million yen or roughly about $27,500.
