Help my truck with it's squeaking problem

I have a 2001 blazer ZR2 and the rear window squeaks wicked bad. is there anything i can do to stop the squeaking. or at least surpress the squeaking. please help me out cuase this problem is getting on my nerves thanks.

Mine rattles in the winter.

Check to make sure the striker plate on the rear latch is lined up. You will see wear on it if it is not. Lube it well (grease it). Use a good quality silicone spray on the weather stripping window seal every week or so and it should take care of the problem. Mine usually gives me problems in the winter.

Should you be using silicone on rubber? I was told to use a petroleum jelly seeing it will not crack or degrade the rubber.

i had the same problem like a week ago. i too put some petroleum jelly of the seal and the noise is gone completly..

Petroleum jelly will work also. A lot of the dealerships use dry silcone spray to prevent the weatherstripping from sticking/hardening. I have actually found that the new "JigALoo" stuff you can get at Canadian Tire/Home Depot works very well and doesn't leave a mess.

I would avoid jigaloo seeing it is a petroleum distillate that actually over time will dissolve your rubber and harden it.

From research, it looks like silicone is ok as long as it is not exposed to sun light all the time.
