Brake Problem?

Oftentimes, when I am driving, the P!
brake light will stay aglow in the gauge area. Is this indicative of a possible problem? My brakes work fine, though.

Re: Brake Problem?

Yes. Check the fluid level.
Some cars have pad sensors that will ground and cause the light to come on when the pad is worn. I don't know if your car has these sensors.

Re: Brake Problem?

Effectively, the light will come on if the braking friction material is worn because the pistons in the calipers/wheel cylinders will extend further to accomodate the worn friction material, and that space above the pistons is filled with brake fluid. This causes the level in the master cylinder to lower and the light in the instrument cluster to illuminate.

Re: Brake Problem?

Try pulling the release handle while pulling up on the e brake pedal. More often than not it's the position sensor on the brake pedal.
