1995 Jimmy intermitent starting

My 95 Jimmy sometimes won't start unless I squirt gas or starting fluid in the intake manifold! It will then start and run great! It doesn't do it all the time, however, it has become more frequent! When it starts it runs great! No stalling, good mileage, good throttle response. It only takes a little squirt to get it started! Please help! Wife is getting frustrated!

Re: 1995 Jimmy intermitent starting

Either failing CPI or failing fuel pump.... First order of business is to check your fuel pressure... 56-60 w/ key in run position, 61-64 with engine started... With the key in the run position, turn key off... Pressure should be maintained for at least 15 minutes before decreasing. If it drops off quicker than that more than likely a bad fuel pump... If not, pull your upper plenum and check for signs of washing.
