My new toy!

So my dad did some work for a guy.. the guy owed him money. But the guy also had a Dodge Omni that just needed a battery and/or starter.

So he gave it to my dad.

Plans:

Make it a GLHS.

pics when we get it.

Re: My new toy!

Cool. Those 2.2 Turbo motors can make some big HP for not a lot of money. 400 hp + 2100 pounds sound like a good combo

Re: My new toy!

we got the automatic non-turbo version but I believe the motors still the same.

no questions asked were doing a manual swap and putting a turbo in it.

I plan on doing some AutoX in it.

Nope, the engine is not the same. What you want is a common block from 1989 and up, preferably a Turbo II with an A-555 or A-568 manual.

Sure, no problem. You should be able to find a good donor car at a junk yard. Also, you will want to register at the
Turbo Dodge Forums. Any question that you could have about TDs can be answered there. Also, I would bet you could find everything you need for the engine swap there for cheap. There are always people selling parts. Most of these guys have a boat load of these cars lying around as well as a lot of parts and you'll get exactly what you need.

I also know of a lot of other resources for parts in information if you want them. Also, welcome to the club!

Re: My new toy!

haha you read my mind. I was gonna ask if you knew a resource for parts and such.

I hope to take this to some autox events sometime in the future.

thanks again!

Alright, here is a list of resources for information and vendors for ya':

The Turbo Dodge Forums:

Like I said earlier, registering here is a must if you own a Turbo Mopar. There are a lot of smart guys that post there. There are people that are into drag racing and auto-x. There is a guy there that has an 8 second 1986 Dodge Charger. There are a lot of tech sections that you can get just about any question answered in and there is a swap meet section where you can buy and sell parts and cars.

Donovan's Dodge Garage:

This is the best resource of technical information about these cars on the internet. There are a lot of inexpensive and not so inexpensive ways listed to make your car faster and stronger. This is a must read for and Turbo Mopar owner.

MiniMopar Resources:

This is another good technical site about these cars.

Here are some good vendors to get after market and stock replacement parts from:

FWD Performance:

They sell an assortment of aftermarket stuff.

Poly Bushings:

They sell Polyurethane bushings for our cars.

Turbos Unleashed:

They mostly deal in turbos, exhaust, and fuel mods.

Forward Motion:

Like FWD Performance these guys sell an assortment of go fast parts.

Since you said that you wanted to go auto-x there was a good site for suspension stuff but it is down for some reason. It is called Grant Racing. You might have seen their white Daytona R/T in Sport Compact Car. Here is the link; I'll try to find out what is going on because I need some parts from them too:

Grant Racing:

If you ever have any questions or need some help deciding on parts please feel free to ask me anytime, I’m glad to help. I've been doing a lot of research on this stuff.
