Paint problem with '05

Is anyone else having problems with the paint on their new CR-V? We have a black one that easily scratches since day one. At first I blamed my husband for scratching the area around the door handle thinking he was scratching it with the key. The the passanger side handle started getting scratches around it & I never have keys in my hand. Now the other day when my husband took it in to get washed, the car has several round spots the size of quarters on the hood & roof that the paint has come off of. We don't ever park it under the tree & make sure bird poop is always washed off right away. I'm now beginning to think the paint job is messed up, but am afraid the dealer will blame us. Before I complain to the dealer, I thought I'd see if anyone else had the same problem. Thanks

Since its fairly new I would suggest a stop by the Honda dealer for their opinion. Don't tell them any thing, just that you noticed the spots. The round spots could be just water stains, it's hard to say without seeing them.

The scratches by the door handles are from fingers and finger nails. I used to detail cars and it's not just black it's all colors even white that get marked up in that area. A good polish will remove them. Just keep in mind your driving a black vehicle and black is a terrible color when it comes to flaws.

if you are taking it to the coin op washes, then, you should already know that some of those brushes are not good on your paint. best wash is a good wash on your driveway. if your going to tell the dealer that you have a problem with the paint, dont tell them youve been washing on those coin op places.

Angry Paint Job

Sparks, I am having the exact same problem with the scratches around the door handles and I also have never used the keys to open the doors! It didn't help that the first month I had my CRV, I got hit by an egg and still have scratches from that on my left side view mirror. It seems as if just breathing on the finish will make scratches. I have never had this problem before on any other car and am really dissapointed because I LOVE my CRV and plan to keep it for 10 years!!! Bullshifter - I am planning on getting it detailed, so was happy to hear that it may be all that it needs, but again, I was not happy that it is so "sensitive".
