Re: Loose Transmission Mount

I know things a little tighter on a 4th gen, but on a 3rd gen, it's a piece of cake.

Re: Loose Transmission Mount

Merely a matter of jacking up the trans a bit and manipulating a few bolts. It was under a half hour.

I had this problem a little while ago, go to Advanced Auto or Autozone and get a mount, it should be no more than $10-15. Jack the car up, put it on jackstands, put the jack under the tailshaft of the tranny to hold it up, then take off the 4 bolts that hold the crossmember to the chassis, and i think it was 1 or 2 that held the mount itself to the crossmember. Install is opposite of that. Once you're under there, everything is much clearer.

Re: Loose Transmission Mount

I called gm goodwrench to ask them what mount was loose and they told me they had tightened up the mount. The reason i was hearing noise was because my left exhaust mount broke and was hitting the crossmember on my lunch break i went to a muffler shop down the street and they repaired it for 10 bucks,

Re: Loose Transmission Mount

you shoudl switch to a poly tranny mount anyway. Since you have a v8 it'll take you a half hour if you work slow as all hell, it's not too expensive, it'll last, and it'll firm up teh car a little bit
