I put a new clutch on my b18b, and when i had it on the lift, it would engage all the gears. I backed it out of the bay, and when i put it in first and let the clutch out....nothing happened! None of the gears engage. Reverse makes a whining noise. Help would be appreciated!!

Re: 95 integra clutch problem!
Yeah, we bled the cylinder. A couple times too, but with no luck. The clutch goes in and out on its own, but the gears just dont engage. Thanks.

Re: 95 integra clutch problem!
I cant really tell if it goes into gear with the car off because i have a short shifter. But i know it doesnt go into reverse with the car off, i can feel that.

Is the clutch facing the right way? Most of them have a front and a back. Did you get any grease or oil or anything similar on any of the parts?

Re: 95 integra clutch problem!

Well, assuming you didn't fondle the flywheel or disk with greasy/oily hands, its not slipping. Which leads to other problems. Are you using honda parts, are you mixing parts from different manufactureres, did you get a honda flywheel resurfaced?
When you say it engaged on the lift, you mean the wheels spun? The trans should always shift unless you've done something to the internals. And the wheels will spin in neutral on a lift, just not really fast. If that's what you saw then it wasn't engaging at all, and you've got a tolerance issue. This can be caused by something as stupid as getting the wrong throw out bearing, even one thats off just .015" can make a clutch not release right. |

Re: 95 integra clutch problem!
it went in gear on the lift, the wheels spun in 1st and reverse. I backed out just fine, but when i put it in 1st to pull away, that was all she wrote! Like you said, i bet its something stupid like the bearing or something, but i broke down and am taking it to my mechanic to check it out. I'll let you guys know whats up. Thanks!

Re: 95 integra clutch problem!
i say u just take it back apart....maybe ur axles aren't in all the way...or u broke one....maybe that tranny was shot, or your pilot bearing came out.....

Re: 95 integra clutch problem!
you've got to be kidding me! It did turn out to be the damn axle that popped out. I popped it back in and have since been enjoying spinning tires in third gear! Thanks for your help.
