Beautiful 1/43 built models.

Found these in a Japanese model company site:

Thumbnails all clickable. These are both based on resin kits from Provence Moulage.

I don't have the patience for building models so I don't buy them anymore.

Those are magnificent though - thanks for sharing!

Some of us do not have the funds required for that! Besides which some of the "experienced and talented" modelers out there are also lousy business men. I've dealt with at least 12 "professional" model builders - a couple of whom are very well-known - and all of them had some flaw or quirk that kept them from being good at it in the business sense. One or two of them were outright snakes and thieves... One of them recently turned up as a defendant on "The People's Court" television program. Wish I had seen it!

For the price of one of these 1/43rd scale models and the professional build, I would much rather own a second 1/12th scale F1.

I'll just continue enjoying the pictures of other people's creations for now.

Wow, for 1:43 those do look pretty sensational. The Ueno Clinic car looks gorgeous and just look at those brakes and wheels on the longtail GTR!

1/43 can actually surpass 1/18 models in level of detail if you go for one of the "super kits" from companies like Superior, Bosica, LeMans Miniatures, Renaissance, etc.
I've had models in my collection with opening engine covers, doors, complete lift-off bodies, photo-etched everything but the number of people in the world who can build them properly is very limited.

Edit: for some examples of what is possible check out this page:
http://www.kitcar43.free.fr/Photos/Formules/312T/

Edit: as for the "Ueno Clinic" car: I've read that the front and rear of that car were un-painted carbon fiber so technically none of the models of that car are accurate. The carbon fiber can be replicated in 1/43, 1/24, and 1/18 scales only by decal sheet - which is an expensive and tedious job!

Maybe I've been lucky. When I lived in Scotland, I got to know Mark Forrest, one of the top modellers in Britian fairly well, and he did models for me at a VERY good price and immensely high standard. He is responsible for the Papaya Orange/Silver respray and micro-detailing of one of my 1/12th McLaren F1's, and it looks magic!

In Holland, I've a guy, named Rene, that does my work also at very reasonable costs. One of his masterpieces that he made for himself was a Ayrton Senna McLaren MP? that he scratch built and scaled (maybe around 4th scale) around the sizes of racing kart tyres. That model was displayed at one point at Zandvoort besides the full-sized car.

In both cases, they've conducted the work for me with the pride of completion at the forefront of their minds, not mere financial gain.

I'd say you've been very fortunate. I've had models done by top guys where the build process took months longer than promised - in some cases maybe even a year or more past their own completion estimate. I've also had a guy who had done very good work "lose" a box of my kits that later turned up for sale, built-up, in a certain dealer's shop. One excuse after another until I just gave up in disgust.

I saw the pictures you posted in another thread and it looks marvelous! Can you provide a little more info on what was done to the model by way of added details?

Thanks.

... off the top of my head, aside from the bare metal respray ... 1/12th scale carbon fibre detailing throughout (interior - back of driver's seat, handles, etc,) , engine bay, headlight binnacles, windscreen wiper air deflector, etc.), placed real gold leaf in the engine bay, detailed the engine pipework, scrubbed the tyres, drilled the pedals, etc. A lot of work. The colour scheme and some of the details (i.e. the external door buttons in anodized red) were inspired by 07R, shortly after Larry Kinch bought it, and Mark and myself were invited to Knockhill to have a drive in it.

The interior was completed in Holland, as Mark had some 'issues' that meant he was unable to complete it. The interior has been retrimmed in dark blue, silver fox grey and orange scale leather, alcantara and carpet, which was my idea of the ideal colour combination to compliment the exterior colour scheme.
