How do I program a keyless entry remote for a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Its done with a programming tool. You will have to take it to Chrysler since only they (supposedly) should have access to the security code data base.

Yup, 96-98 or whatever years the rectangle remotes are are dealer programmable only.
