my 01 ws6 engine looks dirty. the other day after i waxed the car some guy came up to me at the car wash and asked me wut i had under the hood. I felt so embaressed cause i had a nice waxed car but a dirty engine. Some of the chrome looks a lil dirty to. My question is if i wanted to clean the engine with a degreaser will it be safe or would u guys not recomend it. And what things should i do if i were to do it and what should i cover up. Thanks

I agree. The only time I use degreaser is when I'm taking something apart and I really don't feel like wearing a bunch of grease. You could try the soap spray at the car wash, then rinse it really well, expect it to run crappy for a few minutes and avoid spraying your airbox, especially where the air filter is...
