What is this 1978 TransAm worth?

Please help! My mother and I currently debating this value of this vehicle. Both of us want to get rid of it, but cannot seem to agree on its value. Here is some information:

6.6L engine
4 speed manual transmission
60,000 miles
Honeycomb wheels

Here's the thing: the car has been sitting in the garage for over 7 years. It has never moved since then. The last time it was started was back in April of 2002. And when we did, gasoline sprayed out of the carburetor for whatever reason. The exterior of the car is filthy, but the interior is actually *very* clean.

Three years ago, blue book value was at $2,000 or so, if I recall correctly. A coworker of mine keeps offering me $2,000 for it, but my mother feels that it can be sold for a much (ridiculously) higher amount. So, I advertised it on collectorcartraderonline.com for $4,000 and was surprised to have a buyer for it within a day. Again, $4,000 was too little, in her opinion, and I was forced to retract the sale.

So, my questions for you guys are:

1. How much should I be asking for?
2. How much work do you predict would need to be performed on this car to even make it operational?

Thanks.

rule of thumb. it is worth what somebody is willing to write a check for.
the plus it is a manual, and it has a pontiac engine. i suggest to list it on ebay with a reserve price as high as your mother wants and see if somebody reaches that aamount with his bids. if not, you don't have to sell it. $2000 you can get easily.you are not listing any vin, so we won't know how many of those were produced. it looks original, but it is hard to tell .
