15W40 oil???
With my oil leak, i've been trying heavier and heavier oils to slow down the leaking until I can get it repaired. What is the heaviest oil rating that I can use without jeopardizing performance and mileage and the life of my engine?

Re: 15W40 oil???
Where is your oil leak? If it's from the distributor end of the head then it's a real simple and cheap fix.

The leak is coming from the timing belt, probably one of the messiest and more expensive oil leaks possible...
Is 15w40 a good choice? |

For the coming winter is the worst choise , at 20F it will be vaseline and the engine will run dry for a few minutes wich will guarantee you no repair because the engine would not exist anymore and thereof no repair to be made.

Don't be afraid to try and change a seal. In my 1993 Geo Metro, it is quite simple. Might as well change the timing belt while you're in there. If you want something nearly impossible, try changing the seals on a 1989 Mazda 929.
