94 ssei ABS code 142 RF outlet valve

I have a 94 bonneville ssei getting code 142 ABS RF outlet valve. Are there valves in the unit like a valve body, maybe one is sticking or something? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi.....I just got my '94 bonneville ssei, so I'm a newbie too.....my ABS light is on (and Traction Control locked in the OFF mode), but my dad doesn't have and OBD-I scan tool so we haven't been able to pull the codes. I do, however, have access to Alldatapro.com, and looked up your code. Didn't find a '142' code, but I did find an ABS code 42, which is 'RF Outlet Valve Circuit Open or Shorted'. There is a troubleshooting flowchart used to isolate the failure (mostly by checking the resistance at various points of the circuit), which should be in your service manual, if you have one. I can summarize the likely culprits: 1) Faulty Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) Assembly -- replace; 2) Open Circuit or Short To Ground in one of the valve circuits between PMV and EBCM/EBTCM -- isolate and repair; 3) Short to battery in suspect valve circuit -- repair.

If you don't have the service manuals, you may be able to get to the isolation flowcharts through www.autozone.com. From what I've read, once you've fixed the problem, an ABS error on an SSEI can only be cleared via the scan tool -- simply unhooking the battery won't do it. I hope this helps.....I may be facing the same problem, but won't know until I get the X-Ray scan tool for my dad for Christmas! Good luck...... -Shannon
