97 neon problem

i have a 1997 plymouth neon that when you are driving down the road it feels like you are driving into a gust of wind, it is in and out of power, not a miss, but it is not pulling anycodes, replaced the plugs and wires on it yesterday no help, im thinking it could be the coil pack maybe....im stumped.....help

What kind of plugs did you put in there? Did this happen after a gas fill up? Could be plugs not gapped correctly, wrong type (no platinum), water in gas, bad gas, just a few things. Make sure your connections on your wires and plugs are secure. Check your coil pack for any cracks.

they are bosch platinum, but it did this before the plugs, and i did gap them,it did idle better, now that i have read all these posts i might be switching to autolite plugs, as for the gas, i put the best in it, all the connections are secure, i am strongly thinking i have a bad coil pack---thank you for those that are helping me on this thread, i have never owned a mopar before, so some of this is new to me.

The plugs were probably bad before, but you put new plugs in there that the neon does not like very much. Stick with the stock copper champions or copper NGK's. Trust me on this.

No problem. If you read some of the other posts similiar to yours, you will see that people put platinum plgs in there car and still have the same problems. After they switch, all is better. I know some people come on here and say they are running platinums and everything is fine. But the thing is they will be changing the plugs after 10,000 miles just like you would the copper plugs. So why spend the extra money if you don't get the added benefit? It would be like buying Mobil 1 oil and filter and still changing your oil every 3000 miles.

im going to change the plugs tommorow, or when ever it stops raining,....if that does not solve the problem then what?

Then you move on to the wires, then coil pack.

the coil pack has a huge crack in the back, i hope this is the problem they are expensive though

There is your problem then! A coil pack from the dealer is way too expensive. You can probably get one from Autozone, Pep Boys, or your local auto parts store for around $85. You can buy an MSD coil pack from Modern Performance or Howell Automotive for around $70. I also have my old one from my 99 that I replaced from with the MSD. $20 shipped to your door if you are interested.

it lasted for 20minutes down the road and the car died, i took the old one off, new one on and still nothing, i then put the new one on and ok for a few, then miss again, i put new plug wires and changed the plugs to copper and fine, then in and out again, it gets hooked to a machine by dodge tommorow, i am runnning out of money guessing at the problem

Did you reset the PCM after you installed the coil pack, wires, and plugs?
