Re: vortech supercharger

Probably low 15s to high 14s, depending on how much boost you run

Re: vortech supercharger

a stock 2.2 proly couldnt handle more than 5-6 lbs. of boost max until something blew, whether it be valves, pistons, n e thing. W/ 5 lbs it would proly run high 14's low 15's as kustmace said. I would seriously consider getting new cams and springs before any forced induction is added. w/o the s/c, but w/ the rebuild, intake, and exaust, the car would still make pretty good power gains

Not at all.

The Mod-Friendly motors are the Twin Cams and the Ecotecs

Re: vortech supercharger

agreed, i was gonna ask wat year u had, but w/ my personal experience w/ an 00 2.2, a 99 z24 and my own 03 ecotec, i would say the ecotec by far, and the 2.2 way in last, not a lot of room and a lot of tricky things about the older models u have to be careful of

From what I've learned the Twin Cams are the best way to go if you were heading down the NA route. Mainly because there are quite a few awesome upgrades you can pick up at a junkyard from a HO or a W41 Quad4. Also, the GM Supercharger is beastly for that car, especially when it has accompanying mods for breathing.

The Ecotec is just plain all-around solid, but takes to boost like a son of a bitch. A turbo ecotec is a beast that few 4-bangers can keep pace with.

The OHV is a great configuration for any non-inline motor. I mean, hell, everything from the Vette to the Viper has mastered the pushrod, but it's just not as useful for an inline motor. They do, however, have very VERY solid pickup in the low RPMs. My old 3.1 launched like a BEAST, but in the higher RPMs it dogged down. Ah..the joy that was 185 lb/tq from the factory.
