Driver's Side Door Leaks

I have a leak on the top front corner of my driver's side door on my 97 Bravada. I have re-glues the weather stripping and it still leaks. It appears that the leak is between the door itself and the rubber it seals against. I have heard that this can be caused from a sagging door and that replacing the "door hinge pins and bushings" will fix the problem. I have found the hinge pins and bushings on ebay for a Jimmy and Blazer and was wondering if they are the interchangeable for the Bravada of the same year?

Re: Driver's Side Door Leaks

Yep, they interchange. I bought mine at Autozone at the "Emergency parts" rack...everything there is packaged in red. A cheap floor jack holding the bottom of the door while you work makes the job easier. What gets me is every time water hits the car, the door rubber channels the water straight to the hinges. I coated mine in grease and re-apply every now and then.

I noticed that to. I was wondering why they would design it like that.

Thanks for the reply Chris I appreciate it. Hopefully the pins will fix the problem because it is raining like mad today and I have to keep a towel in my truck to keep the water from running down into the power window controls.

Re: Driver's Side Door Leaks

Does the door have to come off to change the pins? I noticed that the bottom pin looks like it will come out fairly easily but the top pin is blocked by the hinge spring. There is a tool for that but if I don't have one what is the best alternative for removing that spring?

Re: Driver's Side Door Leaks

Eric posted a good link, I'll likely follow those directs next time I doo mine.
I didn't remove the door to do mine. The spring was difficult but I got it off with my channel lock pliars. It was real difficult trying to re-install it too. Check with your favorite auto parts store and see if they'll lend or rent you a door spring compressor.
