91 Jetta Clutch
I'm thinking about purchasing a 91 Jetta Carat with 95k miles. It looks to have had the distributer and coil replaced recently. When I drove it, the clutch didn't grab until the pedal was almost full up -- so it needs one. What would a dealer charge to replace clutch. The dude wants $2500 for it. I might buy it if I can talk him down to a price based on what clutch replacement might cost. Any suggestions or comments welcome.

Re: 91 Jetta Clutch
Just because the pedal trave is to long does not indicate that the clutch is the main problem. Have you had a look at the clutch master and slave cylinders? Its not uncommon for those to go bad on older VW's.
And german cars rock you bunch of twits :P I have loads of them, E30 M3's, E46 M3, VW R32, Porsche 944 Turbo. I love all my german girls.
