Unhappy 98 Cavalier won't start sometimes

I have a five speed cavalier and sometimes it won't start. The radio will play, the lights come on, but it won't start. We discovered today (quite by accident) that it will start if we push start it, but otherwise it is just blank. It doesn't happen everytime, only once in a while. I have NO idea what is causing the problem. We checked the battery, and the starter but they are fine. Can anyone help me?

I have a 2000 Cavalier that has been giving me fits. It has the same problem. It won't start sometimes. I have narrowed it down to the theft system. When the theft system light starts flashing, it disables the fuel system. I think that it has something to do with the ignition module. I am going to take it in soon to have it checked out. Look for your theft system light. If it is flashing at the times the car won't start, it may be the same problem I have. I sat outside work from 1 am to 5 am one night because of this.

Is there a way to reset the anti-theft system? Yesterday I left the lights on and killed the battery, am thinking that when I jump started it and the alarm went off it did something to the fuel system, cause I drove it home and when I tried to lock it up it beeped three times then when I tried to leave it wouldnt run, it starts but doesnt stay running, it occured to me that maybe the triple beep might have been the car telling me it had disabled the fuel system?
