Combustion chamber cleaning
hey ive read about the Mopar combustion chamber cleaner trick and i ask a guy at auto zone if they had any and he showed me this sea foam stuff. he said its pretty much the same thing as in it can be sprayed into the PCV vaccum hose to clean carbon deposits and help eliminate the low RPM hesitation and stumbling. he own a 1G turbo and knows what hes talking about when it comes to the 4G63 so i took his word for it. i also want to clean the entire intake manifold but the PCV line only goes to the runners. anybody know if the vaccum line comming from the BOV would be ok to spray the engine cleaner in? also, is there any way to clean the TB without taking it off the intake manifold? thanks for any help.

Re: Combustion chamber cleaning
Many poeple do use that stuff. I tear down the motor often enough that I can just scrape the shit off with a screwdriver
Any port to get the stuff into the motor will work, as long as it has vacuum on it to pull it in (after TB essentially). The TB can be cleaned pretty well with it still installed, just remove the TB elbow. At that point though there is nothing really holding it on to the manifold, except all the water lines and such. Try to cover up the holes in the bottom that lead to the FIAV, its a wax device that can be easily dissolved/damaged by solvents. There is plenty of good info on how to use these types of products, be sure to read up about it if you havent already. There are some things to note, like changing the plugs and oil when you are done, etc.

Re: Combustion chamber cleaning
you can remove the line from your bov and use it personally the stuff in the can that isnt the spray is easier....also if your car has got alot of miles change your oil after your done....i did it and it broke some gunk up in my engine and sent it through my turbo ....let just say forced performance wasnt happy.... any way if you havnt seen it b4 your car will probably piss off half the town it will make a lot of smoke
have fun Jesse

Re: Combustion chamber cleaning
thanks for the help. i want to pour the stuff in the cylinders and letit sit overnight but everywhere ive read about it says to use Gunk motor flush and change the oil. i understand the purpose of this and i really want to do it but the other day i was reading the back of a bottle of the gunk motor flush and it said in big black letters "DO NOT USE ON TURBOCHARGED ENGINES". because of that warning im a little reluctant to use it. will that stuff really hurt the turbo? any side effects?

Re: Combustion chamber cleaning
I don't think seafoam is the same as the Mopar stuff.
